Zilliqa integrates and makes EVM native, launches Ethereum Bridge

Zilliqa, a blockchain platform known for its high performance and proof-of-stake mechanism, has achieved compatibility with Ethereum. This milestone was announced on May 19, as Zilliqa successfully integrated the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) into its main net, making it a native component of its blockchain. By incorporating EVM, Zilliqa aims to attract more developers to their platforms and expand their ecosystems.

Integration with Ethereum allows Zilliqa developers to deploy decentralized applications (dapps) on their proof-of-stake blockchain while maintaining compatibility with existing dapps on Ethereum. This interoperability is significant because Ethereum has the largest user base and the most extensive range of smart contract applications such as decentralized finance (DeFi),non-fungible tokens (NFT), and gaming.

Zilliqa’s head of Distributed System Engineering, Valeriy Zamaraiev, emphasized that the goal is to simplify token transfers and ensure a seamless experience for developers. Zilliqa’s implementation of EVM compatibility, which encompasses all the necessary APIs, surpasses that of many layer-2 blockchains. The native integration of EVM within Zilliqa’s ecosystem further strengthens its commitment to a seamless developmental experience.

To facilitate interaction between Zilliqa and Ethereum, Zilliqa users will utilize the “Ethereum Bridge,” which is a secure and bidirectional mechanism. This bridge enables token transfers from Zilliqa to Ethereum, and vice versa. Developers from Ethereum can also deploy their applications on Zilliqa without the need for code modifications. By leveraging Zilliqa’s features, such as high scalability through sharding and their native programming language, Scilla developers from Ethereum can explore new possibilities and test their solutions on the Zilliqa platform.

Zilliqa has already taken steps to support developers, including the launch of a web3 gaming console for blockchain games on its platform. The console incorporates a user-friendly interface, and built-in crypto wallet, and supports token mining. These initiatives aim to foster the adoption of blockchain technology and provide a seamless experience for both developers and users on the Zilliqa platform.
