Worldcoin, a prominent digital identification platform and cryptocurrency project, has announced a strategic partnership with Web3 infrastructure leader Alchemy to introduce its new blockchain, World Chain.
World Chain: Bridging Real-World Utility and Digital Identity
World Chain aims to deliver tangible real-world benefits, particularly in decentralized finance (DeFi) and digital identity. By leveraging Alchemy’s robust Web3 infrastructure, Worldcoin seeks to ensure reliability and foster community-driven growth.
A Blockchain Designed for Humans
In April, Worldcoin unveiled World Chain as a “blockchain for humans,” built on Optimism’s OP Stack and integrated with Ethereum, Coinbase, and other networks within the Superchain. This integration focuses on optimizing World Chain’s proof of personhood technology to prioritize human authentication and deter bots. Verified users will receive preferential access to blockspace and gas allowances.
By prioritizing authenticated users, World Chain aims to connect developers with millions of genuine users, enhancing the utility of applications designed to improve daily life.
Scaling to 10 Million Users with World App
The partnership with Alchemy enables World Chain to scale effectively, targeting over 10 million users on the World App. Developers will benefit from Alchemy’s data APIs, indexing solutions, and critical tools necessary for global application deployment. A key component of this infrastructure is account abstraction, which enhances the security of self-custodial wallets.
“We’re excited to partner with Worldcoin to deliver essential infrastructure and foster developer growth for World Chain,” stated Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy’s engineering lead. “With over six years of experience ensuring guaranteed uptime for major Web2 and Web3 enterprises, Alchemy is uniquely positioned to support the over 10 million World App users at launch.”
Worldcoin also announced plans to release a developer preview for World Chain, allowing projects to begin building on the blockchain before its full launch later this year.
