Worldcoin recently expanded its World ID verification services to Singapore with the Orb hardware device.

Worldcoin announced a major expansion of its World ID verification services in a recent tweet. Singapore has been added to the list of countries where people can verify their identities using Orb, the project’s unique hardware device. This move comes after the successful launch of World ID 2.0 and the open-sourcing of Worldcoin’s iris recognition pipeline in mid-December.

The inclusion of Singapore in the World ID verification network marks a wider global trend, with Worldcoin increasingly extending its reach in Asia, Europe, and South America. Tools for Humanity (TFH), a major supporter of the project, has joined startup and tech groups in Singapore, demonstrating the project’s commitment to collaboration and trustworthiness.

However, Worldcoin recently decided to cease Orb verification services in India, Brazil, and France, complicating the evolving landscape of digital identity verification.

At the same time, the World ID-compatible wallet, World App, has reached significant milestones, surpassing 5 million downloads and having 1.7 million monthly active users. TFH, which manages World App, reports that these figures place it as the fifth most popular hot wallet globally in 2023, alongside established names like the Bitcoin.com wallet.
