Ubisoft Partners with Cronos Network to Expand Presence in NFT Gaming Space

Ubisoft, the renowned video game company, continues its expansion into the rapidly growing NFT gaming space by partnering with another blockchain network as a validator.

In an announcement made today, Ubisoft revealed its support for the Cronos network. The creator of popular gaming franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance will operate a node on this open-source network, which offers interoperability with both Ethereum and Cosmos.

As part of their role, Ubisoft will generate or validate new blocks on the Cronos network, contributing to the processing of transactions alongside 27 other blockchain validators, including prominent entities like Crypto.com and Blockdaemon. The presence of multiple validators typically enhances the decentralization of the network.

Cronos Labs, in a recent post announcing the collaboration, expressed that Ubisoft would collaborate closely with their developers to drive progress in blockchain gaming. Furthermore, they expressed their intention to leverage the expertise of Ubisoft’s Strategic Innovation Lab to enhance their efforts in this domain.

“We look forward to leveraging their enthusiasm for blockchain technology and being challenged by their team as we progress on the technical and ecosystem roadmap of the Cronos chain,” said Cronos Labs Managing Director Ken Timsit in a blog post. Ubisoft previously served as a mentor to startups participating in the Cronos Accelerator Program in 2022.

Ubisoft’s backing of Cronos represents the publisher’s ongoing efforts to establish a strong presence in the expansive realm of NFT gaming. Over the years, they have engaged in prototyping and launching their own blockchain games, supporting multiple networks and platforms, and making strategic investments in related projects.

As part of their current endeavors, Ubisoft is actively involved in the development of Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, a tactical role-playing game that was recently announced on the Oasys blockchain network. This demonstrates their commitment to exploring innovative avenues within the NFT gaming landscape.
