As of May 27, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s crypto portfolio has exceeded $10 million, highlighting his growing involvement in the digital currency space.
Trump, the Republican frontrunner, has seen his on-chain crypto investments soar, largely due to the significant appreciation of the MAGA (TRUMP) meme coin. Data from ArkhamIntel indicates that Trump’s $TRUMP holdings alone are valued at $7.3 million, accounting for the bulk of his crypto assets. Additionally, Trump holds over 463 Ethereum (ETH), currently valued at $1.8 million. Notably, Trump does not publicly own any Bitcoin (BTC).
The MAGA coin, a political meme coin based on the Solana blockchain, has experienced a remarkable 60% price increase over the past week, now trading at $12.40.
Trump’s Evolving Stance on Cryptocurrency
On the campaign trail, Trump has articulated a supportive stance towards cryptocurrency. Historically, he has had a mixed view on digital assets, having expressed skepticism about Bitcoin in 2019 by labeling it “highly volatile.” However, in the current election cycle, Trump has pledged to foster a more crypto-friendly environment in the U.S. “Crypto is moving out of the U.S. because of hostility toward it. I don’t want that. If we are going to embrace it, we will have to let them be here,” he stated during a recent rally.
On May 21, Trump’s campaign launched a fundraising page accepting donations in any cryptocurrency available on the Coinbase platform. Moreover, on May 26, Trump declared his intention to support the appeal of Ross Ulbricht’s conviction. Ulbricht is the founder of the Silk Road, a notorious online marketplace that was shut down in 2013.
