Trump’s Crypto Dinner

A high-profile fundraising dinner hosted by former President Donald Trump for major holders of his TRUMP memecoin is making headlines—not for its political implications, but for what some guests are calling the “worst food” ever served at a Trump event. The exclusive event, which took place on May 22 at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia, garnered a lot of attention because of its high buy-in rate; guests reportedly paid millions of memecoins to be seated at the table.

Nicholas Pinto, a well-known TikTok star and guest, delivered a harsh criticism despite the elegant environment. “It was the worst food I’ve ever had at a Trump golf course,” he told WIRED, labeling the filet mignon “trash” and likening it to a “Walmart steak.” The only redeeming aspect of the lunch, according to Pinto, who spent over $300,000 on the TRUMP token, was the bread and butter. He also said that he was still hungry when he left the event.

The menu featured a “Trump organic field green salad,” followed by a dual entrée of filet mignon and pan-seared halibut, accompanied by mashed potatoes and vegetables. The traditional lava cake for dessert was unimpressive as well. “Everyone at my table said the food was some of the worst they had ever had,” Pinto noted, lamenting that McDonald’s or pizza—meals reportedly favored by Trump—would have been preferable.

There were other issues besides the food. Trump’s brief speech drew criticism from the audience as well; Pinto called it “pretty much like bullshit.” Trump seems to read from a script in social media video footage, making evasive statements regarding cryptocurrencies. “You believe in the whole crypto thing. A lot of people are starting to believe in it… this is really something that may be special—who knows, right?” he said.

The fact that Trump allegedly left right away after his comments, skipping any in-person meetings or giving the top token holders the promised presents—like expensive watches—only served to increase the discontent.

Lawmakers have also expressed interest in the dinner. The Department of Justice has been urged by 35 House Democrats to look into any infractions of federal bribery statutes and the emoluments clause of the Constitution, which forbids presidents from accepting gifts from foreign countries without the consent of Congress. It is thought that many of the top 220 TRUMP token holders who were invited to the event live outside of the US.
