Solana-based memecoin platform Pump.fun has fully reinstated its livestreaming functionality as of April 11, 2025, following a five-month suspension prompted by prior misuse and safety concerns. Initially reintroduced to a limited user base on April 5, the feature is now accessible to all users, accompanied by comprehensive moderation policies designed to prevent previous instances of harmful content.
The platform’s livestreaming capability was originally suspended in November 2024 after users engaged in extreme and dangerous stunts to promote their tokens, including threats of self-harm and violence. One notable incident involved a user named “NoHandsNoRug,” who deceived viewers by hiding his hands during a stream, only to later reveal them and execute a live rug pull by selling off the token’s liquidity.
In response to these events, Pump.fun has implemented a stringent moderation framework. The updated policy explicitly prohibits content involving violence, harassment, sexual exploitation, child endangerment, and illegal activities. While Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content is not categorically banned, the platform reserves the right to assess and moderate such content on a case-by-case basis. Violations may result in stream termination or permanent account suspension, with an appeals process available for contested decisions.
The reintroduction of livestreaming comes at a time when the memecoin market is experiencing a downturn. On April 11 alone, users launched 16,000 new memecoins on Pump.fun, highlighting the intense competition among creators. This saturation has led to a decline in the “graduation rate” of tokens—those achieving sufficient market capitalization to be listed on decentralized exchanges—falling below 1% from previous highs of around 1.67%.
Pump.fun’s decision to restore livestreaming reflects an effort to balance user engagement with platform integrity. By instituting robust content guidelines and moderation systems, the platform aims to foster a creative yet safe environment for its community.
