Venmo to Integrate PayPal's ERC-20 Stablecoin PYUSD
By Published On: 11/09/2024

ENS Labs, the developer of the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) protocol, has announced a strategic partnership with PayPal and Venmo to enhance cryptocurrency transfers. This collaboration allows users to leverage ENS names for transactions, simplifying the process of sending digital assets and mitigating the risks associated with traditional wallet addresses.

The integration enables PayPal and Venmo users in the U.S. to input ENS names when transferring cryptocurrencies, eliminating the need to manually enter or scan complex wallet addresses. This development is expected to reduce errors—such as sending funds to incorrect addresses—a known vulnerability often exploited by scammers. In particular, schemes like address poisoning have led to significant losses for crypto users, including a case in May when a Bitcoin whale lost $70 million by sending assets to a fraudulent address.

By adopting ENS names, PayPal and Venmo are delivering a more intuitive and secure user experience. ENS names, which are easier to remember and more reliable than traditional wallet addresses, help safeguard users from common errors that scammers exploit. Moreover, the platforms will incorporate an address book feature, allowing users to store ENS names for quick recall of previous contacts, further enhancing security and convenience.

This partnership signals a significant step forward in making cryptocurrency more accessible to everyday users by improving the usability and security of transactions.
