With the release of Shardines, a revolutionary blockchain execution engine from Aptos Labs, the Aptos network has reached an all-time high of one million transactions per second (TPS). This advancement solidifies Aptos’ standing as a top Layer 1 blockchain and represents a major turning point in horizontal scalability.

Shardines enables near-linear throughput scaling, allowing the network to process 1 million TPS for non-conflicting transactions and more than 500,000 TPS for conflicting transactions, according to a blog post published by Aptos Labs on February 5. By separating consensus from storage, the invention maximizes throughput and permits independent scaling.

Scalable blockchain solutions have long been sought after by the cryptocurrency industry in an effort to improve execution times in digital economies, decentralized finance (DeFi), and on-chain global marketplaces. These objectives are supported by Aptos’ most recent innovation, which facilitates the deployment of web3.

Furthermore, Aptos Labs earlier unveiled Zaptos, a technology intended to attain sub-second finality at 20,000 TPS and lower end-to-end latency. It is anticipated that this breakthrough will revolutionize cryptocurrency payments, gaming, and DeFi.

By incorporating native USDC support, Chainlink connectors, and Aave v3 deployment, Aptos further solidifies its position in the future of decentralized banking while also growing its blockchain ecosystem with Shardines and Zaptos.
