The World Economic Forum (WEF) identified more than 65 ways of real application of blockchain in solving problems that are related to the environment. The results of the expert studies are published in the report Building Block(chain)s for a Better Planet.
According to WEF, environmental protection can be greatly simplified by applying blockchain to create new decentralized systems. Experts do not exclude that in the future decentralized protocols may appear that will completely change our understanding of the solution of problems of pollution of nature.
These revolutionary systems include a blockchain for decentralized resource allocation, fund-raising platforms and pollution accounting projects. For the normal functioning of the listed blockchain, a single world ecosystem may be needed.
The possibility of creating such an ecosystem still remains under question. Members of WEF want to discuss some of the advantages of technology, ways to solve possible problems and plan for creating a platform.
It is worth noting, earlier the government of Liverpool also announced plans to use blockchain to protect the environment.
