Venezuela offered India a 30 percent discount on crude oil if the country agrees to use the Venezuelan cryptocurrency El Petro. This is written by Business Standard.
According to sources of the publication, representatives of the Venezuelan blockchain department were in India in March. The head of the Indian cryptocurrency exchange Coinsecure, Mohit Kalra, told Business Standard that Venezuelan officials travel to different countries and make different offers related to El Petro.
Previously, according to Kalra, Coinsecure is ready to launch a bid for the Venezuelan cryptocurrency.
Venezuela launched El Petro on February 20. The US warned of the risks of using cryptocurrency because of sanctions imposed on Caracas, in March, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to restrict operations with El Petro. Thus, as Coindesk notes, Venezuela has to look for ways to introduce its cryptocurrency into the world economy.
